Haskill Classroom
Ages 4 - 5
The Haskill Classroom has more of an intentional focus on letters, letter sounds, numbers, identifying, writing, and spelling their names, sight words, early math concepts like counting, patterns, more and less, one-to-one, number recognition, read alouds with rich literature, science experiments, art, play based learning inside and outside, centers focusing on fine motor skills like cutting, tearing, holding a pencil or crayon correctly, songs, nursery rhymes, social skills, independent skills, a whole bunch of giggles, and much more!.
Our 4/5 classroom utilizes Zoophonics and Handwriting without Tears as our foundation, in addition to a weekly theme our lessons to be based around. This classroom experience is a wonderful precursor to Kindergarten.
Children must be potty trained to enter this classroom and must be turning four on or before September 14th of the school year., the director has the right to make exceptions.
Each day we offer a rest time from 12-1 pm. We do not require they sleep, but we do require that students rest quietly. We provide nap mats we clean daily, while parents provide a blanket and small pillow or special stuffy that is sent home each week for washing and returned the following week.
Camas provides two snacks each day focusing on two of the following at each snack time, a healthy fruit, veggie, carb, fat, and/or protein. Families bring a packed lunch each day for their little learner.
We work hard to follow school birthday ranges to keep children with their same aged peers.
